Who we are and what we do: Sandra's role as Secretary of Advocare

I made contact with Advocare just over a year ago because I was unable to get the right kind of care for a loved one. Just being able to talk through a problem with another carer who was 'unconnected' helped me to gain a clearer insight on how to deal with the difficulties I was experiencing. I felt very isolated then but in becoming a member of Advocare I have made new friends. Recently I became an Associate Member of the Institute of Fundraising.

Caring for Carers out of hours

Things that might seem straightforward to an outsider can seem huge to you when you're a carer. The enquiries we receive show that carers in distress would benefit in knowing they can contact Advocare after office hours. As part of a small team I am helping to develop a scheme to make Advocare's confidential Caring for Carers telephone line available out of hours.
