  • Do you have the support you need from family and/or friends?
  • Have you had a Carers Assessment? These should be offered routinely to carers.
  • Are you sure you are claiming all the benefits you are entitled to? Some carers are eligible to an Attendance Allowance themselves without realising it.
  • Are you certain you have all the disability aids to help you care for your loved one?

If you answer 'yes' to any of the following questions we may be able to help you:

  • Are you feeling stressed about your loved one's welfare?
  • Do you have a problem with your loved one's care?
  • Would you like to talk to someone else who has been a carer?
  • Do you think there shortfalls in the support services your loved one receives?
  • Has an unwelcome decision been made regarding your loved one's care?
  • Are you reluctant to speak up about your loved one's care for fear of backlash?
  • Would you like help in getting your voice heard?
  • Would recording day-to-day events regarding your loved one's care be useful?
  • Would you like help in making representations to the appropriate authorities?

As we are an independent organisation you can feel reassured in the confidence that you can speak openly to us. We will do our utmost to protect your interests and those of your loved-one.

Advocare can sometimes open fresh channels of communication and remove some of the barriers you may be experiencing. If necessary we can make representations on your behalf to the appropriate authorities regarding your loved-one's care.

We endeavour to find swift, common-sense solutions to carers' problems.
