After-care from Advocare

Our casework and survey show that many people feel lonely and isolated when a loved-one dies or is admitted to a residential care or nursing home.

As Ron put it: "I felt I was in the forgotten army. I was held for so long in the caring role but after my wife died I collapsed, just like a weak jelly coming out of a mould."

Advocare's After-care consists of workshops which focus on the 'invisible' needs of former carers, such as feeling 'stuck' when they are no longer caring full-time.

Our workshops are currently held for people in the Poole-Bournemouth area but participants are welcome from further afield in Dorset and Hampshire.

After an introductory session, depending on demand, the workshops are held on alternate weeks for a further three months. For more details contact Cathey on (01202) 737592.
